What Time is it in Northern Territory?

Northern Territory operates on Australian Central Standard Time (ACST) year-round, which is 9 hours and 30 minutes ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+9:30). Unlike South Australia which also uses ACST, the Northern Territory does not observe daylight saving time, so the time remains consistent throughout the year.

All of Northern Territory follows the same timezone. Darwin, the territory capital, along with Alice Springs, Katherine, and other regional areas all observe ACST. During summer, the Northern Territory is 30 minutes ahead of Queensland and 30 minutes behind the eastern states that observe daylight saving time.

Fun Fact

The Northern Territory is home to two of Australia's most iconic landmarks: Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kakadu National Park. Despite being Australia's third-largest territory by area, it has the smallest population of any Australian state or mainland territory, with fewer than 250,000 residents.
