Vanuatu operates on Vanuatu Time (VUT), which is 11 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+11). Vanuatu does not currently observe daylight saving time. The country discontinued DST in 1993, so the time now remains consistent throughout the year.
All of Vanuatu follows the same timezone. The capital city Port Vila, located on the island of Efate, along with Luganville and all 83 islands that make up the archipelago, observe Vanuatu Time.
Vanuatu is home to Mount Yasur on Tanna Island, one of the most accessible active volcanoes in the world. The country has three official languages: English, French, and Bislama (a creole language). Vanuatu is also credited as the birthplace of bungee jumping, inspired by the traditional land diving ritual on Pentecost Island.
