Most of Idaho operates on Mountain Standard Time (MST) during winter months, which is 7 hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC-7). During daylight saving time, observed from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November, Idaho switches to Mountain Daylight Time (MDT), which is UTC-6.
The majority of Idaho follows Mountain Time, including Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello. However, the northern panhandle including Coeur d'Alene observes Pacific Time (UTC-8/UTC-7). Most of Idaho's population is in the Mountain Time Zone.
Idaho spans two time zones. When it's 9 AM in Boise (Mountain Time), it's 8 AM in Coeur d'Alene (Pacific Time). This creates unique scheduling challenges for businesses operating across the state.
