Bhutan operates on Bhutan Time (BTT), which is 6 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+6). The entire country follows a single timezone and does not observe daylight saving time.
Major cities including Thimphu (the capital), Paro, Punakha, and Phuentsholing all follow BTT. Bhutan shares its timezone with Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, and parts of Kazakhstan.
Bhutan is the world's only carbon-negative country, absorbing more CO2 than it produces. The country measures success by "Gross National Happiness" rather than GDP. Television and the internet were only introduced in 1999. Bhutan is known as the "Land of the Thunder Dragon" and archery is the national sport.
