Rwanda operates on Central Africa Time (CAT), which is 2 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+2). The country does not observe daylight saving time, so the offset remains constant throughout the year.
All of Rwanda follows the same timezone. Major cities including Kigali, Butare, Gisenyi, and Ruhengeri all observe CAT. Kigali, the capital and largest city, is known as one of Africa's cleanest and most organized cities.
Rwanda is known as the "Land of a Thousand Hills" due to its mountainous terrain. The country is home to about a third of the world's remaining mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park.
