Egypt operates on Eastern European Time (EET), which is 2 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+2). Egypt does not currently observe daylight saving time, so the offset remains constant throughout the year.
All of Egypt follows the same timezone. Major cities including Cairo, Alexandria, Giza, and Luxor all observe EET. Cairo, the capital and largest city, is one of the most populous cities in Africa and the Arab world.
Egypt is home to the only surviving wonder of the ancient world, the Great Pyramid of Giza. The country spans two continents, with the Sinai Peninsula located in Asia. The Nile River, the longest river in Africa, flows through Egypt and has been the lifeblood of Egyptian civilization for over 5,000 years.
