Sudan operates on Central Africa Time (CAT), which is 2 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+2). The country does not observe daylight saving time, so the offset remains constant throughout the year.
All of Sudan follows the same timezone. Major cities including Khartoum, Omdurman, Port Sudan, and Kassala all observe CAT. Khartoum, the capital, is located at the confluence of the Blue and White Nile rivers.
Sudan has more pyramids than Egypt, with over 200 ancient pyramids built by the Kingdom of Kush. The country is where the Blue Nile and White Nile meet to form the main Nile River. Until 2011, Sudan was the largest country in Africa before South Sudan gained independence.
