Central African Republic operates on West Africa Time (WAT), which is 1 hour ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+1). The country does not observe daylight saving time, so the offset remains constant throughout the year.
All of CAR follows the same timezone. Major cities including Bangui, Bimbo, Berbérati, and Carnot all observe WAT. Bangui, the capital and largest city, is located on the banks of the Ubangi River, which forms the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Central African Republic is home to some of Africa's most biodiverse rainforests, including the Dzanga-Sangha Reserve, famous for its forest elephants and western lowland gorillas. The country also contains the Manovo-Gounda St Floris National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
